Letter from the Publishers
After a few random days where the temperatures dropped, only to go back up into the 90s a day later, it looks like the cool nights and nice days are here to stay. I’ve gotten the holiday decorations out of storage and Cindy has sorted through them to find the ones we will display this year. We have ornaments saved from childhood and inherited from our grandparents. Lots of good memories but too many things to put up in our small cottage.
As I drive around the city, things look like they are getting back to normal. However, just because the mountains of drywall and furniture are gone doesn’t mean that repairs on those homes and businesses is finished or that things are, in fact, back to normal.
In this gift-giving season, many of us will be scaling back. It’s more important than ever to focus on the gifts of family and friendship that don’t cost any money. Spend some quiet time making a list (it doesn’t have to be long) of the things and people you are thankful for. Tell the people you love that you do love them, whether they are someone you see every day or someone you haven’t talked to since this time last year. Rather than ordering everything online, drop in to some local small businesses. You may just find that unique gift that you didn’t even know you were looking for and you will surely have a nice visit, something you can’t get online. If that business is listed in Natural Awakenings, mention that you saw their ad or article and thank them for their support of our little magazine.
